Spring Has Sprung on Straddie
Spring school holidays are nearly here, and we’re leaning right into them.
From Thursday 17 September right through to Labour Day, Monday 5 October, we’ll be open 7 days a week, with a cracking line-up of great food, live music, new-season wines and plenty of reasons to settle in on the rooftop. Whether you’re holidaying on the island, heading over for the day or lucky enough to call Straddie home, here’s what we’ve got planned.
New season. New menus.
Spring sees the arrival of our new All Day Menu – designed for everything from a post-beach feed to a long, lazy bougie rooftop lunch. Alongside it, keep an eye out for Chef Alex’s ever-changing Specials Menu, where he gets to have a little more fun with seasonal produce, fresh seafood and dishes inspired by what’s looking particularly good that week.

Spring is for Tom Foolery Wine
Our Wines of the Month for September come from Barossa Valley favourite Tom Foolery Wines, with some seriously good pricing available by both the glass and bottle throughout the month. And even better, the man behind the wines is coming to Straddie.
On Saturday 26 September, owner and winemaker Ben ‘Chippy’ Chipman joins us for our next Makers’ Table Degustation – Two Crafts. One Table.
Chippy has selected five of his award-winning wines to pair with Chef Alex’s 4 course degustation menu, creating a one-night-only island dining experience on the rooftop. Our Makers’ Table evenings are all about bringing the people behind the food, beer and wine to the table – and this one is shaping up to be a beauty. Tickets are selling fast, so don’t leave this one too late.

Spring sounds on the rooftop
Of course, spring on Straddie needs a soundtrack. We’re kicking off the school holidays on Saturday 19 September, when Matt & Sean from The Bentley 5 hit the rooftop from 3pm–6pm. Then on Sunday 27 September, Straddie local legend Grant Owens returns from 2pm–5pm. If you know, you know. We’re expecting the fan club. And to send the spring break out in style and set the tone for the Labour Day long weekend, Gavin Roche makes his Straddie Brewing rooftop debut with two gigs:
Saturday 3 October | 3pm–6pm
Sunday 4 October | 2pm–5pm
Fresh beer, good food, live music and a Straddie sunset. That’s a pretty decent way to spend a long weekend.
Make a day of it
One of the best things about our Island Home in Dunwich is you don’t need to be staying on the island to join us. Jump on the passenger ferry from Cleveland, spend the day exploring Straddie, then finish with lunch, dinner, a few drinks or live music on the rooftop before catching the ferry home.
Or forget the itinerary altogether. Grab a table, order another round and watch the sun disappear over the bay.
