Paula Boo, fibre artist, musician and terrestrial ecologist by trade, weaves her acoustic soul through her art and her music.
She continues to explore weaving and basketry techniques from traditional and contemporary weavers, whom she acknowledges as powerful women and men, always with respect for their ancient art forms.
I took my inspiration for Sudsey Sunset from the beer they produce and the wonderful sunsets witnessed from the brewery.
It is about sharing her knowledge with others whilst learning new techniques that will enable contemporary expressions of weaving as a vital art form. Paula uses a variety of traditional and innovative basketry and weaving techniques, styles, and materials, mainly working with natural fibres both native and introduced, and recycled materials.
She is currently exploring the fusion of metal works, botanical printing, ceramics and cyanotype with natural fibres.
